General Information

P.E. days: On these days please ensure that long hair is tied back and earrings are not worn.

Monday: Indoor PE (yellow / house t-shirt, green shorts and pumps) Dance

Thursday: Outdoor PE (warm tracksuit and trainers) Games

Reading folders: Your child should take home a reading book which may be changed daily and a phonics book which should be read throughout the week and returned on a set day. Also on this day, your child's home writing book must be returned so that the teacher can provide feedback. On Fridays we check the children’s reading records. If a child has read three or more times during the week, they will receive a golden ticket for the Tuesday raffle.

Spelling Homework: Your child will be sent home with spellings on a Monday and will be tested the following Monday by their RWI/Literacy group teacher.

Homework: In addition to reading and Spelling homework, your child will receive a piece of Maths or topic homework each fortnight. Maths homework should be returned the following Wednesday.

SPAG: We now have a SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) lesson each afternoon. The children are divided into three ability groups for these lessons. Please see your child's class teacher if you are unsure which group your child is in for SPAG.

Term 2.1

Our first topic of 2017 is ‘Towers, Tunnels and Turrets'. Our focus will be on castles and we will be visiting a local castle towards the end of our topic. We will be looking a some traditional stories and using these in our literacy. In our History lessons we will be learning about events beyond living memory and about the lives of significant individuals. Our geography focus will link to the castle visit, and in science we will look at habitats.


Come and See

Our Come and See topics for this term are ‘Books’ followed by 'Meals ’ and 'Opportunities'. During our first topic we will be learning about the books used in church, other books the parish use and discussing our favourite books. In our 'Meals' topic we will be learning about Jesus' special meal and then in 'Opportunities' we will learn about starting a new in order to celebrate Jesus' new life.. 



Key Stage One are currently using the Read Write Inc scheme of work for phonics, focusing on the speed sound sessions. These sessions are differentiated and held at 9:10 every day.
